Chat is how you build in the web app: describe what you want, and Luno Builder creates and maintains the agents, workflows, and triggers in your project. To run a deployed agent, use that agent’s page under Agents instead — see Navigate the web app. Builders chat with Luno Builder in Studio. Everyone can ask Luno, the read-only assistant, and their chat agents from the chat dock.

Luno Builder (Studio home)

Luno Builder is the home of Studio (/studio, the first Studio sidebar entry and where the mode switch lands). Each conversation is a session bound to one Space in your active organization — pick the Space when you start, and start a new chat to work on a different one. If the organization has no Space yet, your first message creates one (named after the prompt; rename it later) and the chat starts there. The column on the left lists your builder chats by day; share a chat’s URL (/studio?sessionId=...). Under the composer, What you’re building shows your most recently changed Spaces with their deploy state, and a link to Coding agents (/get-started) for building with Cursor or Claude Code. Old /chat links redirect here.

Chat dock

The chat dock keeps a conversation next to whatever you are looking at. Open it with the button at the bottom right of the User view; Escape or the close button hides it. The button follows what you are looking at: Talk to this app in an app, Talk to this workflow on a Space workflow, Talk to this space inside a Space you belong to, and Talk to Luno elsewhere. It reopens the chat you left in the same app or Space; anywhere else it starts a new Luno chat about what is on screen. Luno answers questions about what you can see: your tasks and notifications, recent runs and failures, Spaces, apps, chat agents and workflows, and spend if you can read analytics. It only reads. It never writes code, deploys or creates anything; for that it points builders to Luno Builder in Studio and tells members to ask a builder. Each question carries the Space, app or workflow on screen, so “why did this fail?” means the workflow you are looking at. Luno chats take text only (no attachments). These buttons also open a Luno chat:
  • Ask Luno on Home sends your question right away. It opens the dock even if you hid the button in Preferences.
  • Ask on a task in My tasks sends a question about the task, with the task’s Space as focus.
  • Ask this app in an app’s top bar.
  • Ask Luno why on a Governance spend breakdown. In Governance the dock offers Luno only.
  • Layouts. The header switches between a panel docked to the right, a floating window, and full screen. Drag the floating window by its header and resize it from any edge or corner; drag it past the right or left edge to dock it there, or into the bottom-right corner to put it back. Drag the docked panel’s inner edge to change its width. The dock remembers your last layout and width in this browser.
  • Full screen hides the top bar and collapses the sidebar to its icons; following a sidebar link closes the chat. Docking on the left collapses the sidebar too.
  • Who you chat with. The dock starts with Luno. The agent picker and the chats sidebar list Luno first, then the chat agents you can use. Inside a Space, Luno is named Luno · Space name and the Space’s agents come next.
  • History. On a wide panel the chats sidebar shows your Luno and agent chats by day. Inside a Space you can filter it to that Space (Luno chats always show) or All. On a narrow panel it opens as a drawer.
You can hide the Talk to Luno button with Show Luno button in Preferences (your avatar menu).

Chatting with your own agents

Luno Builder builds things and Luno answers questions. To talk to an agent you’ve deployed, pick it in the chat dock or click its card on Home, in a Space or in Apps (the card opens the dock with that agent), or open its page in the Space (/spaces/<space>/agents/<agent>: the chat next to the agent’s details and your recent chats). Builders also have the agent’s Studio page under Agents. See Chat with agents.

What happens behind the chat

Luno Builder works in a hosted session on your project’s shared draft — real TypeScript, the same source coding agents edit locally. Draft edits aren’t live until deployed; the agent tells you when something is still on the draft, and you can watch the draft in the Space’s Files tab in Studio. Full detail: Luno Builder. When a build needs an app connection, the agent shares a connect link that opens the in-app connect dialog — approve OAuth or enter the API key there, never in the chat itself.
